GES interdicts Okadjakrom SHS teacher over alleged sexual misconduct

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted a teacher at Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Oti Region following the circulation of a video allegedly showing him in a sexual act with a female student.

In a statement released on Thursday, 2 October, and signed by GES Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the Service said the teacher has been barred from entering the school premises pending investigations.

GES described the conduct as “unacceptable, unethical, and a violation of the professional code of conduct for teachers.”

The Service assured parents and the public that the protection and safety of students remain its top priority, and warned that any teacher found culpable of acts that compromise student welfare will face the full rigours of the law.

“The teacher has already been interdicted and prohibited from entering the school premises pending further investigation into the matter,” the statement noted.

The interdiction comes just days after GES dismissed the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo, following a viral video showing him in a compromising situation with a female student.

In that earlier statement, issued on Monday, 29 September, GES said it viewed the matter with “utmost seriousness” and confirmed that Mr Aidoo had been removed from office and prohibited from going to the school while investigations are ongoing.

GES reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing discipline, professionalism and child protection across all schools in the country.
