AI provides competitive edge for businesses and governments- Kalin Radev

By Daniel NONOR, Accra

Kalin Radev, Chief Executive Officer of Software Group, a global technology company, reiterated the competitive advantage that Artificial Intelligence (AI) provides businesses and governments by offering tailored solutions to complex problems.

Mr. Radev emphasized that AI can be a highly productive tool, but only when guided by appropriate regulations and governance to mitigate its risks. “AI applications will improve significantly through compliance, regulations, and governance, preventing scenarios where machines might assume they know better than humans,” he explained.

Speaking to The New Finder at the 8th CEO’s Summit in Accra, Mr. Radev highlighted that AI could revolutionize industries, and provide a significant competitive edge.

“From my perspective, AI will be incredibly beneficial and heavily leveraged by any industry with digital operations,” he stated.

He added that while AI could complement large-scale analyses, suggest optimizations, and make recommendations aligned with organizational goals, it should not be given control beyond making suggestions.

Furthermore, governments can utilize AI for research and replication of successful programmes. For instance, if Ghana seeks to pass a law regulating a specific sector, AI could analyze similar laws globally and produce comprehensive documents to guide the legislative process. “Governments could also use AI to design effective public education campaigns, ensuring clear communication and minimizing errors,” he noted.

Mr. Radev also highlighted digital solutions provided by Software Group to clients in Ghana, such as the partnership with Fidelity Bank. This project supports financial inclusion through the pioneering of the agency banking model, aligning with Fidelity Bank’s vision to offer world-class banking services to Ghana’s unbanked population.

Additionally, Software Group offers various digital government solutions to transform the public sector. These include the Post Office Digital Transformation, which empowers postal networks to become digital backbones for financial and e-government services; a National Wallet to facilitate a cashless society; Government Disbursements for effective social and government payment distribution; and Digital Tax Collection, providing convenient options for taxpayers and innovative solutions for tax aggregation and collection.
These initiatives promote transparency, stable government budgets, and the progression towards a cashless economy.
