CGI concludes tour of 5 regions

The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi has concluded his two-week tour of the five northern regions to gauge border security in the area.
During the tour, the CGI commissioned three newly renovated Border Posts at Namoo, Pulimakom and Mognori, sponsored by the International Organization Migration. He also engaged with Officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and other security agencies, political and traditional leadership, and community members in the Northern, North East, Upper East, Upper West and Savannah Regions. The Immigration boss also inspected ongoing projects, various inland checkpoints, approved and unapproved routes across the Regions and received on-site briefing from his Commanders.
On the final day of his tour, the CGI paid a courtesy call on the District Coordinating Director for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Dr. Francis Ndamani, in the effort to strengthen the relationship between the Immigration Service and the leadership of the District Assembly. Dr. Ndamani noted that the cordial relationship between the GIS and the Assembly has contributed immensely to the security in the District. He also expressed gratitude to the GIS for various interventions that have raised security awareness, particularly among the youth.
On his part, Mr. Takyi extended thanks to the Assembly for their numerous assistance in providing office and residential accommodation for GIS in the District. He stressed the Service’s appreciation for the support and thanked the people of Sawla-Tuna-Kalba for their cooperation.
He urged them to report any suspicious individuals in their communities to the Immigration Post or the nearest Police Station and to adhere to the national security slogan “See Something, Say Something”.
The CGI also visited and inspected the Wechiaw Border Post, Gaa, and Kalba-Inland Checkpoints, Bole Sector, the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Office of the GIS, as well as a 2-bedroom residential accommodation for Officers.
In a related development, the Overlord of the Wala Traditional Area, Nana Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV and his Council of Elders have donated 100 acres of land to the Immigration Service for the purpose of building residences and a Regional Headquarters, and a training school for the northern belt.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration was accompanied by the Chief Staff Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Emmanuel Ashley, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) Barbara Sam and DSI Osei Kwakye of the Public Affairs Department, and other Officers from the National Headquarters.
