Black Stars vow to bounce back after Chad draw

Ghana’s Black Stars have pledged to redeem themselves in their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Mali, following a disappointing draw with Chad.
The assurance was given to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, during a morale-boosting visit to the team’s camp on Saturday.
The Minister reminded the players of their unique talents and the expectations of millions of Ghanaians, stating: “I know what you’re capable of. There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around.”
He emphasised that his visit was meant to encourage, not criticise, the team.
In response, the players and technical staff, including Head Coach Otto Addo, vowed to deliver a strong performance on Monday.
Addo highlighted the advantage of playing on the natural grass pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium and reiterated the team’s focus on securing qualification.
A senior player echoed the squad’s determination, saying: “We know what went wrong, and we are determined to correct it. The win is coming.”
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the national team through challenging moments.
The match against Mali today, 8 September is seen as pivotal to Ghana’s World Cup aspirations.
