Emirates, Air Peace Activate Interline Agreement

By: Maame Efua Kwaduah

Emirates Airline and Air Peace have taken a significant step toward strengthening air travel links between Africa, the Middle East and Europe with the activation of a bilateral interline agreement that enhances seamless global connectivity for passengers.

The expanded agreement, which builds on an existing partnership between the two carriers, allows travellers to enjoy single-ticket journeys with through-checked baggage on selected routes. This development is expected to improve convenience, comfort and flexibility for customers flying across the networks of both airlines.

In addition to the 13 Nigerian cities already accessible to Emirates passengers via Air Peace, the enhanced interline arrangement now extends connectivity to more destinations across West Africa. These include Banjul in The Gambia and Dakar in Senegal via Abidjan, as well as Freetown in Sierra Leone and Monrovia in Liberia via Accra. The new gateways open wider access for African travellers to Emirates’ extensive global network and award-winning services.

Under the agreement, Air Peace is able to link its broad West and Central African route system into Emirates’ Dubai hub, providing onward connections to key destinations such as London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted, alongside major African cities including Abidjan, Accra and Lagos.

With strong demand for travel between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, the partnership is expected to deliver increased choice, greater flexibility and expanded global reach for Air Peace customers.

Speaking on the development, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said the strengthened interline partnership would allow the airline to expand its presence across Africa while supporting tourism and trade. He noted that the collaboration would also enable more international visitors to explore the region through Lagos, reaffirming Emirates’ commitment to working with strategic partners to strengthen Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Chief Commercial Officer of Air Peace, Nowel Ngala, described the agreement as a major milestone in the airline’s strategy to connect Africa more efficiently to global markets.

He said the partnership combines Air Peace’s strong regional footprint with Emirates’ extensive international network, delivering seamless connectivity, an improved travel experience and better access to key global destinations for African travellers.

Emirates currently operates a Boeing 777-300ER on the Dubai–Lagos route, offering passengers premium onboard services including regionally inspired multi-course meals, a wide selection of beverages and access to over 6,500 entertainment channels on its award-winning ice system, which features Nollywood content. As one of only two airlines offering First Class service into Nigeria, Emirates continues to position itself as a leader in luxury air travel.

Air Peace, with a fleet of more than 50 aircraft comprising Boeing 777s, Boeing 737s and Embraer jets, operates an expanding domestic, regional and international network. The airline remains focused on strengthening intra-African connectivity, promoting trade and tourism, and contributing to economic development across the continent.
