TGMA Board Upholds Nominees List After Reviewing Petitions for 27th Awards

By Esther Korantemaa Offei

The Board of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards has officially concluded the nominations process for its 27th edition, confirming that the final nominees list remains unchanged after a comprehensive review.

The Board explained that the final phase of the process included an Errors and Omissions window, which was opened for one week to address any administrative inaccuracies. These covered issues such as incorrect attribution of songs or artistes, misclassification of entries, omissions of eligible works, and errors in spelling or metadata.

Following the publication of the nominees, several petitions and appeals were submitted by artistes, management teams, and industry stakeholders. These concerns focused largely on category placements, eligibility, and inclusion in specific award groups.

According to the Board, “all submissions received within the review period were duly examined with the utmost diligence and fairness,” in line with the scheme’s established guidelines.

After the review, the Board stated that “the published nominees list remains unaffected,” signaling confidence in the integrity of the initial selection process.

The Board also expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their active participation, noting that such engagement helps strengthen the credibility and transparency of the awards scheme.

“We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to fairness and integrity in administering the awards,” the statement added, emphasizing the scheme’s role in promoting Ghanaian music both locally and internationally.

The Board further extended congratulations to all nominees across various categories, including Music for Good, Group of the Year, African Song of the Year, and TGMA Unsung.

As anticipation builds toward the main awards event, the Board assured the public and industry players of its continued dedication to upholding high standards and celebrating excellence in Ghana’s music industry.
