GRA unveils simpler tax plan for small businesses

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is set to introduce a modified taxation program designed to simplify tax filing processes for micro and small businesses across the country.
The initiative, aimed at widening the tax net and plugging revenue leakages, will offer a more flexible system to encourage compliance among informal and small-scale enterprises.
Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, disclosed this during an engagement with executives and selected members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) in Accra.
“As tax administrators, we mobilize revenue for national development; therefore, we see businesses as one of our core partners in delivering on our mandate,” he stated.
Mr. Sarpong added that the GRA will institute quarterly engagements with the business community to improve tax education and foster collaboration. He emphasized that a thriving business environment benefits the state, as higher profits translate into better tax compliance.
“GUTA is a major stakeholder, and that’s why we found it necessary to meet with some of their executives to explain the upcoming tax measures,” he noted.
The modified taxation program is part of broader reforms to boost domestic revenue mobilization and strengthen partnerships with key players in the private sector.
