GRA wins big at IPR excellence awards

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has once again shown its strength in communication and public engagement by winning three major honours at the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Annual General Meeting and Excellence Awards. The event, which celebrates the best in communication practice in Ghana, brought together top PR professionals and institutions from across the country.

GRA was celebrated for its outstanding work in educating the public and keeping taxpayers informed. The Authority walked away with awards for Best PR Campaign of the Year and Best Digital and Social Media Campaign of the Year, proving its strong commitment to effective communication.

These awards highlight the GRA’s continued effort to use modern communication strategies to increase taxpayer awareness. Through creative messaging and strong public engagement, the Authority has encouraged voluntary tax compliance and supported Ghana’s national revenue goals.

One of the awards—Best Digital and Social Media Campaign, recognised the GRA’s smart use of online platforms to connect with the public. The Authority used targeted social media posts, data-based communication, and interactive online tools to help taxpayers understand their responsibilities. These digital strategies reached different groups of people and boosted participation in tax-related activities.

The success of these campaigns was led by the Communication and Public Affairs Department, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Florence Asante. Her team’s coordinated efforts ensured that the GRA’s messages were clear, accessible, and impactful.

Accepting the awards on behalf of the Authority, Dzinunya Mawuli, a Chief Revenue Officer from the Public Education, Media Relations, and Review Unit, praised the entire communication team for their hard work. She said the dedication and creativity of staff have helped build a stronger relationship between the GRA and the public.

Mawuli added that the awards will inspire the team to continue improving tax education and public engagement. She said the GRA remains committed to helping citizens understand the importance of paying taxes and supporting the government’s revenue mobilisation efforts.

The IPR Excellence Awards are the highest honour for public relations in Ghana. Each year, the awards recognise organisations that show innovation, professionalism, and ethical communication. GRA’s latest achievement further strengthens its position as a leader in public communication and community engagement.
