EC directs district officers to switch to offline mode

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a transition to the offline mode of registration for its district officers, effective immediately.
This decision follows challenges encountered with the network on Wednesday afternoon, impacting the online mode of registration.
In a statement released yesterday, the EC expressed regret for the delays experienced during the afternoon.
However, they assured stakeholders that any backlog of voters resulting from these challenges would be addressed.
The EC stated that if necessary, the registration exercise would be extended beyond the original deadline of May 27, 2024.
This transition to offline registration mode aims to ensure the smooth continuation of the voter registration process, despite the technical difficulties faced with the online registration system.
The EC remains committed to facilitating a fair and accessible registration process for all eligible voters.
