 Zipline delivers 18.6m items,vaccines

-Saving thousands of lives in emergency situations

Data available to The New Finder, reveal that Zipline, a leading drone delivery company, has successfully delivered a significant quantity of medical products totaling 18.6 million (18,624,806).

This includes 6.4 million (6,424,806) items and 12.2 million (12,200,000) vaccines.

Since its inception, Zipline has completed over 519,000 drone delivery flights across Ghana.

These deliveries encompass a diverse array of medical products, including 3.5 million (3,566,500) units of vaccines, 2.2 million (2,825,210) units of medical products, 14,807 units of blood products, and 18,289 units of animal health products.

The deliveries saved 6,014 lives through emergency deliveries, including blood products and snake antivenom since 2022.

It also enabled a 21% increase in vaccination coverage, 44% reduction in missed opportunities to vaccinate, and 727 potential lives saved due to increased vaccination coverage.

Zipline’s operations play a crucial role in ensuring the swift and efficient delivery of medical supplies to patients, particularly in remote and underserved areas of Ghana.

Samuel Akuffo, Zipline Fulfilment Lead in Africa, highlighted the company’s response to various disease outbreaks, including anthrax, newcastle disease, fowl pox, and gumboro, which safeguarded over 104,000 cattle and poultry.

Additionally, Zipline has delivered over 12.2 million vaccine doses, including 2.8 million COVID-19 vaccines, significantly contributing to the nation’s immunization efforts.

Mr. Akuffo emphasized the importance of Zipline’s partnership with Ghana in leveraging technology to enhance healthcare outcomes and save lives.

He expressed gratitude for the collaboration and innovation that have enabled Zipline to fulfill its mission.

Assuring of continued innovation and collaboration, Mr. Akuffo reaffirmed Zipline’s commitment to addressing the healthcare challenges facing the nation.

He stressed the company’s dedication to building a healthier and more resilient Ghana for future generations.

Zipline also assured the government of its ongoing delivery and timely access to life-saving drugs and medical equipment to support healthcare services.

The six Zipline distribution centers – Omenako, Ashanti Mampong, Vobsi, Sefwi Wiawso, Anum, and Kete Krachi (each with a 110km delivery radius) collectively serve 17 million Ghanaians across 13 regions of Ghana, with on-demand drone delivery.
