BoG Partners DASA 2026 on Digital Asset Regulation

The Bank of Ghana (BoG), through its Virtual Assets Department, has been announced as an official partner of the Digital Assets Summit Africa (DASA) 2026, strengthening efforts to promote responsible digital asset innovation and regulation in Ghana.
The partnership, which has received formal approval from the Bank’s Management, will see the central bank participate in the summit through knowledge sharing, policy discussions and high-level speaking engagements focused on the future of digital assets in Ghana and Africa.
Organisers of DASA 2026 say the collaboration demonstrates the Bank of Ghana’s commitment to supporting responsible innovation, improving stakeholder engagement and promoting constructive dialogue as the country develops a regulatory framework for the emerging virtual assets sector.
The partnership comes as Ghana implements the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025 (Act 1154), which is expected to provide the legal and regulatory foundation for the registration, supervision and oversight of virtual asset service providers operating in the country.
The Act, together with forthcoming regulatory directives and guidelines, is expected to guide the development of Ghana’s digital asset industry while ensuring financial stability, consumer protection and market integrity.
The participation of the Bank of Ghana is also expected to strengthen DASA 2026 as a key platform for discussions on digital finance regulation, investment opportunities and technological innovation across Africa.
The summit will bring together policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, investors, technology companies and industry leaders to examine practical approaches to expanding digital finance while managing emerging risks.
The 2026 edition of the summit will be held under the theme: “From Policy to Prosperity: Scaling Digital Assets for Investment, Jobs & Economic Growth in Africa.”
Scheduled for September 16–17, 2026, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, the event is expected to attract more than 500 delegates from Ghana, Africa and other parts of the world.
As part of the partnership, three senior officials from the Bank of Ghana’s Virtual Assets Department will participate in discussions on regulation, policy development and market oversight.
They include Acting Head of the Virtual Assets Department, Philip Kwaw Sebuabe; Head of Policy and Research, Dr. Seyram Pearl Kumah; and Head of Oversight and Compliance, Tahiru Alhassan.
Their involvement is expected to provide industry participants with insights into Ghana’s evolving digital asset regulatory environment and the central bank’s approach to supporting innovation while safeguarding the financial system.
Key areas to be discussed at DASA 2026 include digital asset regulatory frameworks, tokenisation of real-world assets, institutional investment, stablecoins, blockchain-driven job creation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital market infrastructure and cross-border trade finance.
The summit will also feature investor-startup matchmaking sessions, policy roundtables, innovation exhibitions and strategic discussions aimed at accelerating growth within Africa’s digital economy.
Lead Organiser of DASA 2026, Peter Frimpong Manso, described the Bank of Ghana’s involvement as a major endorsement of the summit and Ghana’s broader digital transformation agenda.
He said the partnership reflects a shared commitment between regulators and industry stakeholders to build a responsible and sustainable digital asset ecosystem.
According to organisers, the collaboration positions DASA 2026 as one of Africa’s important gatherings for discussions on digital assets, financial technology and emerging innovations.
The Digital Assets Summit Africa is organised by ProMark Elite Limited and brings together regulators, policymakers, financial institutions, investors, technology firms, academia and industry players to explore how digital assets can support investment, job creation and economic growth across the continent.
